Missouri Council of the Blind Thrift Store

Board Opportunity

The Missouri Council of the Blind is dedicated to serving individuals living with blindness throughout Missouri. This mission can only be accomplished by building and operating strong fund generators such as our thrift store in Springfield, Missouri. For this reason, MCB is seeking a broad-based Board that includes members of the Missouri Council of the Blind, as well local individuals with business expertise, individuals with marketing experience and those with a solid background in retail.

Creating a Board of this nature will help to ensure that we have a strong knowledge and experience base suitable for operating and guiding our thrift store. Board members are critical to developing our organization’s policies and ensuring that the organization is working toward accomplishing its’ mission.

Requirements: We ask each director to attend the monthly board meetings, plus any committee meetings and the actual events. Financially, we ask each director to give or get (in the form of securing sponsorships and donations) $600 per year.

Meeting times: Our Board meets by conference call on a monthly basis with a face to face annual meeting to approve the budget and strategic plan. Conference calls are usually the 3rd or 4th week of each month and last approximately 60-90 minutes.

How to Apply: Individuals interested in applying or learning more information are encouraged to contact Gary Maddox.

**Please let us know if you submit an application and/or get appointed to this board.
